Itinerary for the Tarmac Hot Laps Experience:

Your time with us begins at our Corporate Meeting Room, with a refreshing coffee or tea and some savoury biscuits. We break you in gently by showing you some footage of Tarmac Rally Cars in action around the world, and follow this with an explanation of some of the technical side of how these cars work, and just how they can do what they do. During questions that are asked by our clients, we are able to put some of the myths of this sensational sport to rest.

The Hot Lap itself..............A Real Buzz !!!

Right from the moment at which your driver engages first gear your adrenalin will be rushing around your system at full speed, and then as you approach the first of many, many sideways slides through a long fast bend on slippery tarmac, you will not be able to believe that you are still upright !.................and then as the speed builds, and the Rally Car goes up gear by gear until you are going pretty quick, you will be starting to enjoy the rush. fast................ Your driver will now be moving the Rally Car from one side of the road to the other with expert finesse, missing all sorts of hazards by millimetres, with the car at 90 degrees to the road very often. Your Driver’s braking is very late, yet very firm, as the car slows at what seems like an impossible rate, only to turn into yet another of the super slippery bends in a Full-On sideways drift.................His acceleration is firm, fast and totally accurate, with his foot held firmly and relentlessly flat on the throttle pedal while the car responds to his every move of the steering wheel, and to his expert controlling influence.

Tarmac Rally Drive Days - 5 Laps - Rear Wheel Drive

This is a basic thrill seeking Tarmac Rally Driving Session, that enables anyone to come along and have fun in our Rear Wheel Drive Rally Cars. Not for anyone that's serious about rallying, more of a quick thrill to show what's possible!

Your time with Extreme Driving will be spent learning a few of the tricks of the trade, by firstly being part of a 20 minute tarmac rallying question and answer session, during which you can feel free to grasp some of the skills we use everyday in our Rally Driving careers.
Shortly after this, you will be taken to our Tarmac Rally Track, which is essentially a Race Track, modified by us for specific Rear Wheel Drive Rally Car driving. We use some really amazing Rear Drive Rally Cars, such as BMW M3’s, Group A Toyota Sprinter’s, and a host of other suitable and exciting special cars. You can learn to drive sideways on Tarmac, for 5 laps!
You will lose and regain control of our cars under expert tuition from our qualified instructors, all of which have extensive experience in real Rally Events. Events such as Targa Tasmania, Targa West, and Targa New Zealand are all well known in the world of Rallying.

Rally Stage 2 Advanced Course:

For all graduates of the Full-day Rally Experience,you are now invited to come and put your skills to the test on the advanced level of our course. This course allows you to further your slide control techniques, braking techniques and your throttle usage techniques. These are the three main areas that we will be pushing you on, during an absolutely mind blowing day of exhilaration and excitement where you and four or five others will indulge and enjoy the ultimate in what rallying has to offer. You will learn more of the real skills that really start you on your road to rallying as a career.
The Rally Competence course is really where you begin to move from just enthusiasm to a semi professional, as it is the course where you will really start to understand why our cars do what they do and how you can control them in all conditions.

During your time with us we will spend an hour or so covering more in-depth theory, and we will also touch on navigation, be it pacenotes or route instructions depending on where you think you might go from here in rallying. The course is a one day course and is extremely action packed and some people find it very tiring too!! It is often the case that by 3.00 pm people are tired and want to go home!! – But we won’t let you stop; we just keep pushing you into having more fun and learning more.

It is also a day of big learning, as the course does involve some navigation as well, although if you have a navigator or co-driver in mind, we can teach them separately on another day where you can come along too (on the navigator only course).

The day basically furthers your skills in the three areas of throttle technique, steering technique and brake usage technique. So come along and really get to grips with rallying so you can move onto the next level. It really is an eye opener, and for those that can employ the technique of “left foot braking” we can also allow you to do that and further your skills in that area too.

Once again from a course like this, you will take a great deal away with you for your general road driving abilities and you will advance to yet another high level in car control.

Tarmac Rally Days Pre-Event ( Stage 3 ):

Well this is finally it! – The last hurdle on your way to a rally career. This detailed, intense and very exacting 1 day session features only 4 people, 2 cars (4WD turbo intercooled).

The day begins with a lengthy questions and answers session, covering the driving on, and reading of pace notes, as well as a detailed run-down of some of the more likely situations you might find yourself in.

The initial practical part of the course is really a refresher, to brush up on what you learnt last time. So, we work on your pendulum swing technique, left-foot braking and throttle control. All of these areas will enhance your experience in your first rally, and are the tools to get yourself out of trouble! You will approach each bend fast, but under control and under total guidance from our instructors, who will read World Rally Championship style “Pacenotes” to you – “9 right into 10 left, 4 right and flat crest 250” etc!

The day is designed to equip you with all the tools required to get you through your first rally, including reading tree lines and the correct approach to crests and dips, etc. We will also cover the navigation side for you, so that you don’t freak out at driving to what you hear rather than what you see.

A day of intense learning, of practicing new skills, of gaining a new level of car control, and of piloting one of our top rally cars through and between the trees.
