So here it is! – For all of you that have always dreamt of joining the army and playing soldiers, or for those of you who just love serious military hardware, the Armoured Car Drive Day!
This ex-Australian army APC has seen service in Hong Kong and Singapore during its 48 year history, and still drives superbly!! It is an English machine weighing some 11.5 tonnes, and is powered by a huge straight-8 cylinder Rolls Royce engine. The “Big Boys Toy” carries 10 people as well as the driver and instructor, so is exceptional for a team day out!
Your day begins with a 30 minute instructional session at our lecture room, which covers the crucial safety requirements, as well as hot tips on how to master the pre-selector gearbox.
Next we take you out to the mighty machine, climb aboard and demonstrate usage of all the controls. As soon as all are ready, we head for the dirt and start driving!
Following a morning session of fun and madness driving over things, we take you back to our main facility for a lovely lunch, and an opportunity to swap stories, and have a good laugh.
Later, once back on the track, we get you to drive the awesome beast down narrow forest tracks, over “razor-edges”, up and down some amazing humps, through creeks and so on – crazy fun!! Finally, one of our instructors takes you for a fast “hot lap” in the mighty machine.
