Extreme Driving.Net has often run a Young Driver Competition, to find and develop young rally talent in Australia. We began this concept in 1992, when we were known as First Time Racing.
One of our customers Mr Andrew Pinker won our 1992 Win-A-Drive Competition. He completed all four levels of our course, and won every level, competing against other customers. The prize was an all-expense paid drive in Australia's World Rally Championship Rally, Rally Australia, in 1992.
Andrew then went on to be supported by First Time Racing in 1993, as we attempted to win the Daihatsu Challenge together. He then went on to win the Daihatsu Challenge outright in 1994, by being the most consistent across all events in all states of Australia. He was 19 years of age. He then went on to dirve World Rally Kit Cars in England, where he and the team were actually leading the British National Rally championship for some time.
A very recent young driver being supported by Extreme Driving.Net is Will Orders, who has been in a dominant position throughout the 2005 Subaru Challenge, within the 2005 Australian Rally Championship. He has won many of the heats outright, but suffered a massive blow in South Australia in July this year, when a massive high-speed rollover took the team out of contention for the entire event.
The car was totally rebuilt in 12 days, highlighting the determination and commitment of the team, and significant financial input from Michael Thompson to complete the car in time for the Rally of Melbourne in September. The task was completed, and the team went on to win the subaru Challenge component of the event. Currently Will Orders is running second in the Subaru Challenge for 2005, seperated by just 4 points from the series leader, Eli Evans. Will Orders won the 2004 South Australian Rally Championship outrigtht this year.
